Kumar Sinha


Samir Kumar Sinha writes from Patna, India, for local and national
as well as worldwide media including print and web on the issues of environment,
development and wildlife. More than 60 of his articles have been published
in different newspapers and magazines, both in Hindi and in English. His
writings are aimed at disseminating basic concepts and environmental issues
among every stratum of society. He advocates positive change to affect
urban, social and natural environments.
Born on 23rd September 1973 at Patna, (India) Samir Kumar Sinha graduated
in Botany in 1994 and completed his M. Sc. in environmental sciences in
1997. He scored the highest marks in the subject in the university since
commencement of the course in the university in1990.
As an environmental researcher, he has more than five years of experience
in working on air, noise and water pollution, besides study of aquatic
biodiversity. He has worked as junior researcher on the pollution study
of the Ganges in Bihar, sponsored by Government of India under the Ganga
Action Plan. At present he is associated with a research project funded
by the union government of India at Patna University on population, behavior
and ecology of the Gangetic dolphin, Platanista gangetica.
His writing interests also include social and gender issues related to
environment.
